“People who say they sleep like a baby usually don’t have one.”

Ah newborns. So fresh, so new, so absolutely loveable and huggable and so totally and 100% on noones schedule but their own
People often times think that newborn photography is easy. How hard can it be. Put a hat on a sleeping baby and snap away. What many people don’t know is that a typical newborn session usually runs anywhere from 2.5 to 4 hours! There are many times when I will go to a newborn photo session and will be two hours in and still have not taken a single photograph.
Meet sweet baby C. When I first met this little toot he was 10 days old – our session got off to a flying start and I was praising my sweet, cooperative little man to the moon and back. Then I tried to move him and we had a very wakey baby! Try as we might our precious newbie was a wee bit camera shy.
However – with children’s photography there ALWAYS has to be a plan B. You have to know when to call it quits and we did just that. This morning I visited my little Mr. Man again at 12 days old and he was quite the different baby.
